Short answer: You tell us or show us what needs to go, we give you a price, then our crew loads it, hauls it to the right City of Calgary facility and sweeps the space. Most rental clean-outs are done in one visit. You don't lift anything.

How junk removal works

  1. Send photos or book a look. Photos of each room or pile are usually enough to quote. For a full house or a heavy load we come and look.
  2. Get a price. We quote based on how much there is and what it is, including disposal fees, before anything gets loaded.
  3. We load and haul. The crew carries everything out, including from basements and upper floors, and loads the truck.
  4. We sweep up. The area is swept so cleaning or repairs can start right away.
  5. Proper disposal. Loads go to City of Calgary landfills and Eco Centres. Electronics, tires and household hazardous waste are kept out of the garbage and taken to the drop-offs the City accepts them at.

What we take

  • Furniture: couches, beds, dressers, tables, desks, shelving
  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Appliances: fridges, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves
  • Electronics: TVs, computers, monitors, printers
  • Renovation and construction debris: drywall, old flooring, carpet, cabinets, tile, lumber
  • Tenant left-behinds: bags of garbage, clothes, boxes, food from the fridge
  • Garage, basement, storage room and yard clean-outs
  • Bikes, exercise equipment, BBQs (propane tanks removed)

What needs special handling

Some items can't go in a regular load. Paint, solvents, chemicals, propane tanks, batteries, fluorescent tubes and similar household hazardous waste have to go to a City household hazardous waste drop-off, and fridges, freezers and air conditioners need their refrigerant handled. Tell us what's there when you send photos and we'll say in the quote what we can take and how. We don't haul biohazards, asbestos or other regulated waste, which need a licensed abatement company.

Tenant left belongings behind: what landlords should know

Before you throw out what a tenant left, make sure the tenancy has actually ended or the unit is clearly abandoned. Under Alberta's rules, goods worth less than $2,000 can generally be disposed of, while goods worth $2,000 or more have to be stored for 30 days before they can be sold. Keep a description and photos of what was left and what you did with it. The CPLEA guide on abandoned goods explains it in detail, and if you're unsure, get legal advice first.

We photograph everything before it's loaded, so you have that record. Then the clean-out can roll straight into a move-out clean and turnover.

What affects junk removal cost

The biggest factors are volume (how much of the truck it fills) and weight, since landfill fees are charged by weight. Heavy materials like tile, concrete, plaster and wet carpet cost more to dump than furniture. Stairs, long carries, appliances with refrigerant and items that need separate drop-offs also affect the price. Disposal fees are included in our quote, so the number you approve is the number you pay.

Frequently asked questions

How does junk removal work?

You send photos or we come and look, we give you a price including disposal, then our crew carries everything out, loads it, hauls it to the right City facility and sweeps up.

What items do junk removal services take?

Furniture, mattresses, appliances, electronics, renovation debris, carpet, garbage bags and tenant left-behinds. Hazardous items like paint, chemicals and propane need separate handling, and we will tell you in the quote what we can take.

How much does junk removal cost in Calgary?

It depends on how much there is, how heavy it is and how hard it is to get out. We quote from photos with disposal fees included, so there are no add-ons at the dump.

Is there a minimum charge for junk removal?

Small pickups are priced so the trip is worth it, and bundling a pickup with a cleaning or turnover visit is usually the lowest-cost way to remove a few items. Send photos for an exact price.

Do you remove things tenants left behind?

Yes. Rental clean-outs are a big part of our work. We photograph everything before loading so you have a record, then clean and turn over the unit if you need it.

Can I throw out what my tenant left behind in Alberta?

Generally, once the tenancy has ended or the unit is abandoned, goods worth under $2,000 can be disposed of, while goods worth $2,000 or more must be stored for 30 days first. Keep records. This is general information, not legal advice.

Where does the junk go?

Loads go to City of Calgary landfills and Eco Centres. Electronics, tires and household hazardous waste are taken to the City drop-offs that accept them instead of the garbage.

Do you take mattresses and appliances?

Yes, including fridges and freezers, which need their refrigerant handled at disposal.

Do you remove renovation and construction debris?

Yes. We haul drywall, old flooring, cabinets, tile and lumber from renovations and job sites, and can do the post-construction clean after.

Do I need to be there?

Not if you can give us access and the photos show everything that needs to go. We send photos when the space is cleared.

Do you take paint and chemicals?

Paint, solvents and chemicals are household hazardous waste and go to a City household hazardous waste drop-off, not the landfill. Tell us what is there and we will say how it can be handled.
